Italian Renaissance painter (1370â1427)
Associated with the International Gothic style. He is well-known for artworks such as his Adoration of the Magi from the Strozzi Altarpiece, created for the wealthiest man in Florence at the time, Pala Strozzi.
The Christian Bible tells us that wise men, or Magi, from the east came to pay their respects to the newborn King of the Jews, an episode known as the Adoration of the Magi. Italian renaissance artist Gentile da Fabriano depicts this scene in an opulent altarpiece made for the richest man in Florence, Pala Strozzi.
